11th Dec 2008 New newsletter

This is a new daily newsletter for Fishsim 2 which will mainly concentrate on Trophy Fishsim news but will also include other news from around the fishsim community. If you feel you have anything to contribute, please feel free to comment at the bottom of the page.

Anyway, yesterday was the first round proper of the December 2008 Trophy Fishsim cup with 64 matches taking place between anglers. Retallack waters was the venue, and it seemed given the cold winter months pike were the species to target. Other common species were barbel to around 5 lb, bream and tench, also the odd few ghost carp were welcome catches for some of the 98 anglers who turned out.

The overall win went to Jerry CZ who was a massive 15 lb ahead of the 2nd place angler Bertik 007 CZ. The win was greatly aided by the capture of a huge 17 lb, 7 oz, 11 dr pike which is a new record for the venue. Another record breaker on the day was sirfishalot who bagged two new venue records, Tench 7 lb, 10 oz, 2 dr and a Carp 10 lb, 12 oz, 3 dr.

Morana CZ leads the way in the premier league, but it's still early days, whilst Bertik 007 CZ, Fana8 CZ, and Phoenix Thorn lead divisons one, two and three respectively. Overall December is proving to be a good productive month for our Czech friends, and yesterdays trophy highlighted this further, when they achieved 6 of the top 7 spots. Only Lenny Pike managed to break the dominance.

There's a free choice of venue today, with the species being Crucians and Carp, no doubt the latter will be the most targetted of the two. December isn't the best month for carp fishing, but there still an expectation that plenty of 20's if not some 30's will show. Good luck to all taking part today.

On a personal note I was sadenned to see a direct accusation made towards the Czech anglers about unfair play. The accusation was baseless and there is no evidence to point to anything other than them having a good day. It's a sad state of affairs when an angler ( or group of anglers ) does well and as a result is accused of cheating, we should be congratulating people who do well, not looking at them with suspicious eyes.
