Fishing Simulator 2 news..
| 20th Dec 2008 | Klamer soars to victory |
Yesterday heavy snow greeted all of the 77 anglers who turned out for the match at the River Soar - Sutton Bonnington. Sixteen of these anglers were still involved in the cup and fighting for a place in the last eight. Despite the snow and cold temperature, the fishing was good, especially for anglers targetting bream and roach, these weren't enough though, it was the patient pike fishing anglers that took the top places. Early on in the match, it looked like a 5 lb bream would take the biggest fish award, but then just before midday rumours spread down the river that Bertik 007 CZ had caught a pike. What most anglers assumed to be impossible, suddenly became possible and on hearing the news, anglers the length of the river started altering tactics. At roughly the same time Klamer pl, also landed what was to become his first of five pike for the day. Pegs six and seven were producing the fish for the top pair, who were both ledgering on the far bank, one with jackpike and the other with freshwater fish pieces. Out of all todays 77 entrants only 10 managed to land a pike and only two had 5 pike at the weigh in. Klamer pl was one of the two, which rewarded him with an impressive win for the day, not only did he have the biggest overall weight but also scooped the 5 extra bonus points for the biggest fish, a pike of just under 24 pounds. This monster of a fish was taken from the far bank on peg 6 with a huge freshwater fish piece.
In the cup, there were some extremely close matches, the closest of all was between stan4d. CZ and bigtdrake with stan4d.CZ just edging the win by a mere 5 ounces. in the predicted match to watch, Morana CZ managed to find 3 pike to move on through to the next round over Lenny Pike who struggled yesterday. We are now down to the last 8 in the cup who are, in seeding order :
- Morana CZ
- Phoenix Thorn
- Kenny Ken
- Stan4d.CZ
- Lavaboy
- Pawel
- Dazza
- Jim B
The next round of the cup takes place on the 22nd December 2008, good luck to all anglers who are still in.
Following a credible 4th place, Morana CZ has now pulled out a 42 point gap over Bob Poultney in the premier league race. At the bottom sirfishalot has clawed the gap back to Clive for the last relegation spot to just 28 points now after achieving 42nd place in yesterdays match, earning 46 points. Bebza is now in danger of joining this battle for relegation also after a no show yesterday.
In the first division Dazza, Hodgey and Serasan are in a close battle for promotion to the top flight, it's looking likely that two of these three will get promotion now. Tigeress111 and Carpy are still leading the way in division two, but fana8.CZ's 6th place yesterday is looking like the title race could go three-way. A top 10 finish from TCorleone CZ means (s)he moves into the final promotion position in this division. The third division is pretty much as you were with Phoenix Thorn, Lenny Pike, Poacher and Lavaboy holding the top 4 spots at present, probably more than 4 will be promoted from this division though.
Every single record for the River Soar - Sutton Bonnington was broken yesterday and in December to which goes to show there really are record fish out there on all venues at this time of year. Congratulations go to Benio75 for a huge 3 lb 2 oz chub, also to Dazza for a record breaking 5 lb 2 oz bream, Bruser for an impressive 1 lb 10 oz Roach and Maggie for her 4 lb 12 oz Tench. Kenny Ken also currently holds the pike record yesterday but details of the 23 lb catch by Klamer have yet to be submitted.
Today everyone is on the roam again, but I suspect they'll all be roaming to similar venues, with the species being the Cagnetto and the Zebra Catfish, as a guide to anyone who doesn't know where to find these fish the current records are :
- Cagnetto 1 oz 14 dr caught at Around the World, Iseo Lake (Europe) by bo.rys.pl
- Zebra Catfish 3 lb 11 oz caught at Jungle Fishing, The River by Serasan
This should give a clue as to at least two venues where these species can be found. In early reports sirfishalot is off to an early flyer in his fight to stay in the top flight. Good luck to all who fish today.
Finally, the idea of team fishing in Trophy Fishsim hasn't been totally discounted and is still very much on the cards. The idea is that teams will consist of upto 5 anglers with the top 3 anglers scores from each team contributing towards the team total. I'm reluctant to have larger teams to avoid any more country vs country rivarly. It's still likely each team will consist of anglers from the same country, but there won't just be one team which creates competition between them still. After all if you can't have a bit of friendly competition between friends what is the point. Like the cup, team fishing will fit into the normal daily trophy schedule and a team league table will be displayed as well as the individual tables. I don't think at this point there is any need for divisions for teams, but maybe a team cup competition would be good. Any suggestions and thoughts on this would be appreciated and hopefully in the new year we can get something going, assuming of course you're all still here, not passing the hours away watching Big Brother :)
