Summary of early thoughts and plans

First off, the text below isn't indicating anything definite, it's just a set of thoughts on what the best way forward is for trophy fishsim. The main problem is the amount of human input and commitment required to maintain the trophy fishsim leagues on a monthly basis. This is why all current thinking involves removing the leagues and returning to the single large league that was once the basis of the competition.

This large single league though would become boring if ran over a full month, therefore it is proposed that it be reduced to a weekly league consisting of 7 different match types. For example, Mondays may be 'any species', Tuesdays, 'any venue', Wednesdays 'set venue with single species' and so on.... League points will be calculated as now with 100 for first place descending downwards, also the bonuses for biggest fish and tagged fish will remain. Each anglers top 5 results for the week will determine the finishing position. At the moment, the top 10 results in a month are used.

At the end of the week ( Sunday midnight GMT ), accolades will be automatically awarded and updated automatically, the league will be reset and a new week will begin. The current cup competition doesn't fit into this new scheme very well, however, it is proposed that all competitors from the previous week be entered into the next weeks cup competition with every day of the week also being a cup day.

As said at the top, these are only thoughts and nothing definite is set yet, the only requirement is that the new trophy has to be fully automated. It is hoped that the new system will be in place to start sometime around the end of September 2009.
