Fishing Simulator 2 news...

Yesterday 72 anglers turned up at the weigh in for the Hanley park match. Bream were the main target and as is normal with the trophy anglers it was another record breaking day. Carpy2009 was up and about early at 7am and in the cold dark weather was finding it difficult to hook the big nightcrawlers ( no innuendo intended - it was originally "find" but "hook" sounded much better ! ). These were the bait of choice on a bolt rig on peg one and produced 5 huge bream, all over 7 lbs and the biggest being 8 lb 5 oz. This bag was plenty enough for the daily win by a margin of 6 lbs over Marcin Pl who's biggest fish came on ledgered small volt boiles. Tigeress111 secured the final top 3 place by ledgering nightcrawlers also. Rounding out the top five were Tris and Pikie who both had bag weights of just over 26 lbs. The biggest fish of the day went to Fatgit who finished down in 41st place but still took the extra 5 point bonus with a bream weighing in at exactly 8 lb 6 oz.

Today is the first round of the cup, many anglers will have byes, however the unlucky randomly selected 56 will have to fish in 28 preliminary matches to give the correct numbers.

First round draw January 2009

The tie of the round has to be Phoenix Thorn vs Bob Poultney, either one of which could easily go on to win this months cup. The match is taking place at Mixed Canals ( Click here to download ) and any species can be caught from there. Early signs are that both Phoenix Thorn and Bob Poultney are off to a flying start both catching good fish early on, in fact Bobs 13 lb fish may end up being a contender for the biggest fish of the day. Shabba was the top premier league angler yesterday with an overall 7th place, this has meant the lead at the top has increased, but now Stevie and Soapsallysandra have joined the chase. The win for Carpy2009 meant he was the daily division one winner also, but Fana8.CZ is still out clear ahead. Tris was the top division two angler yesterday which has helped move up to 4th place in the league, but Pheonix Thorn, Stan4d.CZ and Ludva CZ are still out clear at the top. Marcin.pl was the top division 3 angler yesterday, but Fragly CZ still remains in top spot. There are 5 promotion spots currently and the other four are occupied by Achileus CZ, Glenn H, Tomthetroutmaster and Hasan CZ. It's all very tight though in division 3 so far.

A total of three Hanley park records were broken yesterday, firstly Glenn H set a new gudgeon record increasing it by just a dram to 2 oz 1 dram, yesterdays biggest fish of the day, an 8 lb 6 oz bream caught by Fatgit near enough doubles the record which stood at the start of the day. Also Dariusz dyl.pl broke the pike record increasing it to a tad over 7 lbs.

Finally, Happy 18th Birthday to Hodgey - I can recommend some good pubs in Uttoxeter, The Limes or the White Horse used to be good, probably niether is still there now. Just in case you're reading this after you get back from the celebrations Hodgey :
