Fishing Simulator 2 news..

The River Eye was the venue for yesterdays Trophy match, with anglers targetting pike and perch. Pretty much everyone targetted the pike as they were easy enough to catch, plenty of small pike to around 4 lb were tempted by jackpike and JPP roach. Finding pike over 4 lbs was somewhat more tricky, although plenty managed this, with 23 of the 80 anglers who attended breaking into double figures.

The biggest pike caught was shared between Bertik 007 CZ and Fana8 CZ, both anglers managing to land one just 1 dram short of the 11 lb mark. Fana8 bagged his big fish early around 10-30 in the morning, baiting his second rod up with 2 pieces of jackpike and casting a freeline over to the right of the peg. Shortly after, the bait shot off with the pike attached. Bertik's big pike of the same size fell to pretty much the same tactics, however this time the freelined jackpike used was much bigger, and the cast to the left of the peg found the spot.

At the weigh in there was just drams seperating the top 2 anglers, and only ounces seperating the top 5. Our Czech friends really do have the edge when it comes to the pike, and again this showed in the results with them bagging the top 4 spots overall.

Bob Poultney has crept into the league in the premier league with Morana dropping to second, however in 3rd is the familiar figure of Maggie, who has seemingly appeared from nowhere. Maggie has been one of, if not the most sucessful Trophy fishsimmers of all time, and certainly has the experience to take the title and new accolade this month. Bertik 007 is running away from the pack at the top of division one whilst Maciek still leads division two, but Fana8 has now closed this gap down to just a single point. There is no change at the top of the third division with Phoenix Thorn still in charge here.

There was a problem with submissions yesterday around 10.30 pm some catches were not registered as the correct weight. This was totally down to an error on my part whilst changing the script to include some new security logs. The problem was rectified pretty quickly, however some anglers may have been affected by it, of which I can only apologise, sorry.

Today is cup day and we're all heading off to Walkington ponds, early signs are good for catching with some early rumours pointing to fish of over 20 lbs being caught already. There are lots of interesting draws in the cup, but probably Ikarus CZ vs Hodgey and Bertik 007 CZ vs Stevie are the most interesting to watch out for.

Finally, we're back on the subject of strange anomolies, twice now in as many days a record fish has been caught on Trophy Fishsim and a smaller fish has been submitted for the record. This is strange and curious, not only that it is leading to suspicion being pointed at the direction of the Czech anglers again. This is totally understandable and rational in this case, because it is irrational not to submit record fish but smaller ones. It's perfectly normal not to submit records on the day of the trophy because the tactics used can be visible, but there is no problem with sending them in the day after.

No matter what nationality, we're all fisherwomen and fishermen, lets show each other a bit of respect and not create these boundaries between countries, instead lets have fun and enjoy some friendly fair rivalry.
