14th Dec 2008 Kusti has a walkington in the park

It was cup day again, this time on Walkington ponds. Any species was allowed and yet again Pike proved to be the fish to catch. These pike really are dominating this months trophy so far, but it has been a welcome relief from the Barbel at the start of the month. A huge turn out of 100 anglers showed up for the match, with Kusti taking first prize. For a while there it looked like G.B.ONE was a dead cert for victory after landing the biggest fish of the day, a whopping 37 lb 6 oz pike, but late on Kusti caught a 36 1/2 lb fish which combined with the other fish in the net was just enough to take first place. Klamer PL is also worth a mention, the ever reliable specimen angler caught a credible 35 lb pike, whereas the best everyone else could manage was in the low 20's at best.

Peg 6 seemed to be the place to fish, with most success being had under the bushes on the top left of the peg. Jackpike and Freshwater fish pieces seemed to be the bait to use. The pick of the cup matches was G.B.ONE vs Klamer Pl, which wasn't predicted but turned into an epic battle. The two matches hightlighted yesterday to watch saw Ikarus CZ knock out Hodgey and Bertik 007 CZ overcome Stevie, although it has to be said that if Stevie had managed to land the 34 lb pike he had bite, things could have easily been different.

[Stop press: After it was revealed that G.B.ONE had two cup entries, Klamer PL has been awarded a place in the next round ]

As far as the leagues are concerned, Morana CZ has retaken top spot in the premier league. Bertik 007 still leads divison one, whilst there's a new leader in division two, Tigeress 111 has appeared from seemingly nowhere to now head the way. Phoenix Thorn and Lenny Pike anglers seem clear and heading for promotion in division 3, but there is still a long way to go in the month ( although Santa is coming in under two weeks -- PANIC ).

Today, all anglers are unleashed and free to roam in there quest to find big bream and tench. Early reports saw anglers heading in the direction of the River Lot and Clayhole, but there is a lot of choice today, these choices will eventually prove crucial and today of all days is, as they say, anybody's. Mind you Shabba and Pawel have given themselves a slight edge by netting two double figure fish in the early stages.

Finally, there's still this problem with trophy submissions and records. It is only right that we should be able to speak openly and freely about concerns of fairness. This doesn't mean going all out guns blazing and making direct accusations. I personally still find it astounding that two different anglers on two different days submit record breaking fish to the trophy match, and then the next day submit smaller fish to the records. It's just odd, i'm not saying there is anything wrong with it, just that this is bound to raise suspicion.

Trophy fishsim is about fun, friendship and fair competition, these are the basic rules, if people can't obide by them, then they're not welcome, it's as simple as that. Reading on a forum today I was shocked to see direct accusations, also threats and what appeared like on nationality ganging together to beat another - this sort of thing may be acceptable in the world cup, but it's certainly not acceptable here. Another thing that is not acceptable is piracy of FS2 and websites that have direct links to full version downloads, this really isn't fair, I know piracy exists and accept it, but listen, Fishsim isn't produced by a big company, it's written by a single programmer who does work hard to maintain and keep it going, please respect this and don't advertise pirated downloads. This is a direct request to the Czech Fishsim community in particular.
