Fishing Simulator 2 news..
| 17th Dec 2008 | Elaine's nine at Nene gets the bonus. |
Yesterday the trophy moved the River Nene in Peterborough UK, as it was cup day any species could be targetted. At first glance a lot of the 74 anglers who turned out, thought they were in for a day with full nets guaranteed, but fishing at this time of year is rarely that simple and it was soon realised that there was a long tough day ahead. Like previous matches this month, catching the pike was the key to achieving a high postion in the results table, this is something a lot of anglers struggled to do with any real consistency.
Word soon got around early on in the match that Elaine fishing on peg three had landed a huge 9 lb pike, in fact it was actually closer to 10 lb than 9. Amazingly this pike fell foul to a large medicinal leech. It came as a bit of a suprise as prior to that the only fish that had shown any interest in the ledgered leech were roach and bream. This is the second time in 182 trophy fishsim matches that Elaine has managed to land the biggest fish of the day.
The overall win went to current Premier league leader Morana CZ, who just managed to hold off close friend Jerry CZ for the win. Third went to Stiv who was one of only five anglers who managed to break the 30 lb mark for the day.
Yesterdays match also contained some noteable cup shocks, the most suprising of all was a fantastic win for division three angler Pikie over current premier league title chaser Bob Poultney. Also Darek Franco PL had a good suprising win over in form angler Carpy and a fantastic win for bigtdrake over division one leader Bertik 007 CZ sees him go through to the next round. Another cup performance of note was Jimmy's win over current division two leader Tigeress 111. Arriving just in time for the weigh in was Lenny Pike and even later Klamer Pl, in what was predicted to be one of the matches of the day, in the end it was Lenny Pike who heads off into the next round.
In the premier league Morana CZ now has a 50 point lead over second place Bob Poultney, all is not over yet though and with a good closing run, Maggie who has now moved up to clear third place, could still be in with a chance. Kenny Ken in 4th place is another angler who has been doing well lately and on a purple patch, whilst Stevie has dropped to 5th, after a hard day today. Division one still sees Bertik 007 with a commanding lead, this even after a disapointing result today, however thankfully for Bertik, second place man Alan failed to capitalise. The positions in the second divison are pretty much the same as yesterday, however an excellent days fishing from Darek Franco PL has put him in contention for a promotion place. At the bottom Cruller CZ has pulled a bit of a gap out over Downhillbiker CZ in the battle to avoid the drop to the dreaded division 3. Phoenix Thorn and Lenny Pike still lead the divison 3 race comfortably with Poacher and Athos CZ also in the automatic promotion places. It looks likely that Chris and Trigger may also get promotion to if some anglers in the above divisions don't fish.
Congratulations are in order for Nick Robbins, who today competed in his 200th Trophy Fishsim match, in this time Nick has yet to secure a first win, but has been runner up on two previous occasions.
Finally, a sad note but with a happy and fond memory. A lot of people will have noticed mention of Andy T's memorial match, sadly three years ago on December 15th we lost Andy suddenly. Andy was a true gentlemen and a very popular fishsimmer with everyone, ever reliable, dependable and often the voice of reason amongst the community. I had the great pleasure of meeting Andy and fished with him many times, and miss him dearly as a friend, but at this time my thoughts go out to his wife Beryl and family.
